I was doing some writing the other day, and the following verse popped into my head—
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
—And so I wrote this.
Love from God draws us into a relationship with God and others.
Hope drives us to push onward because better days are coming, because salvation has been promised.
Faith directs and forms the foundation of our hope. We hope for Heaven because we trust in God.
Love is the ground from which faith springs. We trust God because we love Him, and we love Him because He first loved us.
Why is love the greatest of these three? Because it is the only one that we carry into eternity.
Hope will be satisfied when what we have been hoping for—entrance into God’s presence, a new life in His new world—is revealed.
Faith is love’s response to doubt and distraction. Eternity will be free of these obstacles and so faith will return to love, from whence it came.
