Purpose #3 – Discipleship

This class will examine the five purposes for our creation: worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism. Pastor Phil will take us through a detailed look at what it means to help each other grow closer to Jesus.

Fasting – Journey To The Cross

This sermon begins our 8-week series called “Journey to the Cross.” In this opening message, Pastor Erik teaches us the biblical perspective on fasting and then challenges us to fast something for the next forty days, leading up to Easter. It’s not about “sacrificing” something for God; Jesus is our sacrifice. It’s about creating space in our lives for God to fill so that we might experience a greater intimacy with Him.

Just As I Am

Jesus knows us as we are, where we are, and what we have done. There’s no point in hiding, and that is why He doesn’t call us to clean ourselves up before we come to Him. He simply calls us to come, just as we are. He will do all the cleaning that is needed in His timing and in His ways, if we will only come to Him.

Appropriate to Sound Doctrine

Most of us would readily admit that it’s important to know what the Bible says, to believe the right things. How many of us would admit, however, that we need help figuring out how to apply what we have learned? Paul gave some fairly clear instructions on this very issue in Titus 2, and that’s where we’ll focus our attention this evening.

Grow

For the next four weeks, Pastor Erik is going to be sharing four components/values of our vision for Cornerstone Church. Our mission is to “love God and love others,” and these are the four ways we do that. This week, we’re going to take a practical look at what it means to grow closer to God and deeper in our faith.
