CU Questions & Answers – May 21

Everyone has questions, and tonight, we tried to get down to some answers! We hope you find our answers and well-thought out as we found your questions! Included below are some of the questions we did our best to answer.
Exodus 10:27 – “God hardened Pharaoh’s heart.” Why would God harden someone’s heart?
I have been reading about Solomon. Do we know how he fell away from God? Also, does it appear he came back to God before his death?
Is God playful?
I’ve been reading Exodus 21 and 22, God’s law concerning slaves. I realize God was speaking into a society where slavery was common, but the laws clearly favor men (21:7….she is not free to go as males servants do…21:11…if your son marries a slave but then marries another woman, he stops feeding the first woman and she is set free but given no money (my words). The law allowed owners to beat their slaves with a rod as long as they didn’t die as a result. These were the rules for Hebrew slaves!! I’m having trouble reconciling these cruel laws with God as revealed in Jesus.
How old is the Earth? Did the Flood cause catastrophic changes that eliminated dinosaurs? Do you think there was a pair of each type of dinosaur on the Ark?
How do you explain to an unmarried (or formerly married) person that sex outside of marriage is wrong?
As I recall, Jesus mentioned that his disciples should shake the dust off their feet if a town rejected them. My concept of Christian evangelism is that we (and God) should persist in trying to save the lost, even if we are (or He is) ignored or rejected, but this teaching seems to go against that. What am I missing?
Is it necessary to pray God’s will for every request?
If you die after having committed a sin but before you can pray for forgiveness, what happens? (The text of this question was quite incomplete; I hope this is an accurate reconstruction.)
What are your thoughts on the belief of “once saved, always saved”?
God knew Satan would betray Him, why did God make the Devil? Also, if angels were created to worship God and they don’t have free will, how did Satan choose to turn from God?
